1. What made you take the leap in entrepreneurship?
I went into teaching yoga because I knew how much it helped me and wanted to share that with others. Yoga was my rock during a toxic marriage and challenging divorce. Just months after my divorce was finalized I took the leap and took a teacher training and it has been the best choice I’ve ever made.
2. What's your favorite part about being your own boss?
All of the effort that I put into my work is for me. I work much harder than I ever have, but all of the fruits of my labor go directly to me. It’s not just a paycheck I’m working for, I’m working to make my own dreams come true.
3. Do you have any work philosophies that drive your business?
I’m a yoga teacher so for me the most important thing is just remembering to take care of my body, mind, and spirit. I know my work suffers when I’m not taking time for both physical and mental health. So I do my best to eat really well, workout and of course practice yoga, and meditate or journal or just do something for my mental health.
4. What does "bringing breath to business" mean for you and your brand?
I guess for me that means keeping yogic principles in mind even when I’m doing business. Putting compassion, honesty, and kindness at the forefront of my decision making is a big deal for me. If it doesn’t feel right for me, I know something needs to change.
5. What's your biggest tip for social media success?
Be real. There’s enough plastic out there, we don’t need to make more. Be authentic, and vulnerable, and share what’s important to you. We get too caught up in things that are “Instagram worthy”. Don’t worry about what’s Instagram worthy. Find out what’s worthy to you and share that instead.
6. What would be the one piece of advice you'd give to someone working to "find their passion or purpose"?/piece of advice you'd give to someone working on building a brand/business?
Finding your purpose is a big deal. Some people go their whole lives without finding it. My advice would be to meditate on it. Think back to your childhood and try to remember what was important to you before the world shaped you. Also look at what causes are important to you. How can you make an impact? And if you aren’t sure how, meditate on it, read about it, search the internet for answers.
